How has the CEM designation helped in your career?
I’m a new CEM, but already in my pursuit of the designation, I’ve met critical contacts, expanded my perspective on show production, and raised my profile as a professional in the industry.
Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?
Show management evolves; as the behavior of our attendees and exhibitors changes, we must continue to stay abreast of show management best practices in order to better meet their needs.
What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?
I wanted to demonstrate my commitment to the profession and develop a more holistic perspective of show management activities.
What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?
Make a plan at the start of each year for which CEM classes you are going to attend. Put them on your calendar and keep your commitment to yourself.
How did you start your career in this industry?
I started out managing the logistics for a tradeshow education program.
How have you made a difference with your show or with working with a client by applying the knowledge you gained by obtaining your CEM designation?
I’ve definitely become more sophisticated and detail-oriented in my contract review process.
What was it that you did or implemented right after obtaining your CEM?
Headed to Expo! Expo! to celebrate!
Fun fact about you – What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I am a watercolor painting enthusiast.
