How has the CEM designation helped in your career?

Refreshed and helped refine my skills.

Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?

Important to stay current on topics effecting our responsibilities in exhibition management.

What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?

To validate and reward my 19 years of experience with expositions.

What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?

The interaction with the course participants and instructors in the group exercises and open dialogue offers you the opportunity to validate similar experiences and challenges freely. You will gain insight, perspective and helpful tools to share with your colleagues and leadership.

How did you start your career in this industry?

After experiencing a layoff in the Telecom industry,  I chose to pursue an alternative industry in healthcare. With my 20 years of related experience in customer service and sales management,  I accepted a position as an exhibits manager.

How have you made a difference with your show or with working with a client by applying the knowledge you gained by obtaining your CEM designation?

I have shared insights from the Security, Risk and Crisis Management Virtual Course and the Neuroscience of Exhibitions & Events course with senior leadership that I am hopeful we can incorporate into our 2022 annual meeting and beyond.

What was it that you did or implemented right after obtaining your CEM?

Shared it with my director and changed my job title to include the designation of CEM!

What did you like most about the CEM Learning Program?

The sharing of experiences and challenges from IAEE members in similar roles as myself.
