Award Presentation Among Other IAEE Activities at IMEX Frankfurt
The International Association of Exhibitions and Events® (IAEE) announced today it has awarded Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition/CCPIT Chengdu Sub-Council with its 2024 IAEE International Excellence Award, which recognizes an IAEE member who has made exceptional strides in advancing IAEE’s programs and presence on an international level.
Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition/CCPIT Chengdu Sub-Council champions IAEE’s Certified in Exhibition Management Learning Program, which has resulted in more than 1,600 exhibitions and events professionals in the region earning their CEM designation thus far. In addition, it extended its education efforts to include the Certified International Events Professional program, which IAEE proudly endorses. IAEE President and CEO Marsha Flanagan, M.Ed., CEM revealed this year’s winner at the IMEX Gala Dinner and Awards held last night during IMEX Frankfurt 2024.
“The longstanding collaborations and ongoing contributions to our industry by this year’s winner speak to IAEE’s mission of acting as the global exhibitions and events industry voice, thought leader and connector of community, commerce, learning and innovation,” said Flanagan during her presentation.
Zhong Qian, Deputy Director-General of Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition, expressed great honor in receiving the 2024 IAEE International Excellence Award.
“Since 2014, Chengdu has closely collaborated with IAEE to significantly enhance the international cooperation and development level of Chengdu’s MICE industry,” Qian said. “Chengdu boasts convenient transportation, well-developed infrastructure, and immense tourism and cultural appeal. We will provide even more high-quality and efficient services for global MICE enterprises and institutions to develop in Chengdu.”
IAEE and CCPIT have enjoyed a highly collaborative relationship at the annual China Economic Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO) for more than 20 years and look forward to continuing their success in advancing the global exhibitions and events industry.
In addition to the award presentation, IAEE leaders participated in activities throughout the event. Flanagan was joined by Vice President of the Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance (ECA) Thomas F. (Tommy) Goodwin, FASAE, CAE, PMP, CMP and Barbara Weizsäcker with the European Exhibition Industry Alliance to present the session, Exhibition Industry Advocacy Update. IAEE Senior Vice President of Engagement and Digital Strategy Lisa Buchanan and Director of Global Business Development Karen Gonzales, CMP-F, CEM shared information about upcoming initiatives and programs while hosting “Coffee and Conversations” each day.
