IAEE Releases Sustainability Toolkit

Guide for Promoting Sustainable and Eco-conscious Events

Today, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events® (IAEE) released its sustainability toolkit, How To Guide to Sustainable Exhibitions, a practical guide exhibition organizers can use to implement sustainable practices and reduce the environmental impact of their events. An exclusive IAEE member benefit, the toolkit offers a functional blueprint for creating more meaningful and impactful exhibition experiences while contributing to a more sustainable future.

“The time is right for us to deliver this step-by-step guide and we are pleased to offer it,” said IAEE President and CEO Marsha Flanagan, M.Ed., CEM. “Regardless of where an organizer is in their commitment to sustainability, this toolkit contains valuable information to support their journey.”

The How To Guide to Sustainable Exhibitions contains 16 modules that follow a five-step process for exhibition and event organizers to make their events more sustainable:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Evaluate Business Operations
  3. Reduce Your Environmental Impact
  4. Focus on Social Sustainability
  5. Track, Monitor and Report Progress

In addition to contributing to the resilience of the exhibitions and events industry, embracing sustainable practices rewards organizers with cost savings, brand enhancement, regulatory compliance, and meeting stakeholder expectations as an industry leader.

“Moving our industry toward highly sustainable events is not only the right thing to do, but it is a smart business decision,” adds Flanagan.
